We know that a visit to the dentist does not rank high on many peoples' list of favorite things to do. That's why our philosophy is to strive to make each patient's experience in our office as positive and as pain-free and stress-free as possible. Here are a few ways we do this:
1) Nitrous Oxide sedation. Inhaled through the nose during the procedure, it will not numb the patient, but it will make the patient not care or worry about the procedure. The body rids it through the lungs in a matter of minutes, so the patient is ready to drive home with no residual effects.
2) Profound painless anesthesia. Dr. Holliday is a firm believer in the advancements of today's medicine, and therefore believes there is no reason to proceed with a procedure if the patient can feel it at all. We choose from several local anesthetics (some with vasoconstrictor, some without) to make sure the patient is comfortable and feels nothing. Anesthetic can be administered with the Wand, a state-of-the art device that allows us to deliver local anesthetic painlessly.
3) Communication. Polling data has taught us that one of a person's greatest fears is fear of the unknown. This is certainly true of dentistry. This is why we take our time with each patient, spending part of the appointment talking with them and explaining what we're going to do. Dr. Holliday then tells the patient what is going to happen next during each procedure so they will not be surprised. A system of communication is given to the patient to let the doctor know if they are uncomfortable. Experience has shown us that this approach reduces anxiety greatly, making it a more positive experience for everyone involved.
4) Caring staff. Each member of our team is sincerely interested in the feelings of our patients and strives to make each one comfortable and relaxed. From the initial scheduling phone call to the actual office visit, every staff member who speaks with the patient tries to ensure that the patient is well taken care of and made to feel important. While in the office, we try to give each patient our undivided attention, listening to their concerns and making sure they are comfortable.
5) Creature comforts. We offer pillows and blankets in each treatment room, as well as treatment room chairs that massage your back during your visit with us. We also offer headphones to drown out any unpleasant noises as much as possible.
6) Beautiful surroundings. In addition to the comfortable waiting room in our new office, our patients are also surrounded by attractive artwork on display from some of our very own patients. Our office, in a downtown building, does not look like the typical dental office. The atmosphere in our office is more patient friendly, giving our patients the feeling of being a guest in a home rather than a patient in a dental office. Huge scenic windows in every operatory give the patient the chance to gaze out the window at lovely downtown Chattanooga during procedures.
7) Parking. Parking downtown can sometimes be tricky. Fortunately, our patients don't have any trouble finding a spot when they visit our office. We have 2 reserved free spaces on the first floor and 4 reserved free spaces on the third floor, just a few feet from the door leading to our office. Parking is covered, a plus on rainy days.
